Katniss and Peeta in 50 Words (K/P, Post-MJ)
This lovely Sunday I've recommending you charlottetrips' beautiful one-shot, "Katniss and Peeta in 50 Words."
One line for 50 words describing Katniss' and Peeta's life before, during and after the Hunger Games.
I can't quite remember how I stumbled upon this gem of a fic, but I'm glad I did! Charlottetrips is an author I always seem to come back to for ethereally written fics that pwn me. Katniss and Peeta in 50 Words is a o/s consisting of a word, and then an allusory sentence using that prompt about K/P and something in the canon.
This fic is so simplistic, and I think that's where the beauty lies. Charlottetrips uses truncated sentences to speak volumes about Katniss during the Games - "1. shore It was on the shore of that arena that she first felt it." and also about Katniss and Peeta after Collins closed the book on them. These Post-MJ sentences are the ones I love the most, because although they are a simple sentence, they give great glimpses into Katniss and Peeta's relationship and lives without making a whole separate fic out of them. Some of the ideas Charlottetrips presents are so original, whereas others completely encapsulate characterisation or a feeling that runs through out the series.
Some of my favourites include:
16. anonymous
It was hard to keep a low profile once you’d assassinated the President.
19. drive
Learning to drive was probably almost as scary for him as it was for her.
6. little
As he watched his daughter pack her bags to make a career in the Capitol, he realized just how much she’d grown up.
11. enchant
Katniss didn’t believe in magic, but when she saw Peeta work the dough with his bare, strong hands, she found herself enchanted.
and
4. kiss
She regretted that the first time they kissed was for an audience.
If you are looking for a quick one-shot to make you feel warm and fuzzy, and to make you love the books even more, Katniss and Peeta in 50 Words is for you.
Happy reading!

Hey there. Tried to comment on this earlier, but I don't think it went through. What's the link to this story? I think I'm missing it in the post. Of course, I can probably just search and find it, but I'm lazy.
ReplyDeleteHey Anon! Ooops. I totally forgot to hyperlink to the fic, which is what I normally do. (The link has now been added to the post.)
ReplyDeleteHere it is: http://charlottetrips.livejournal.com/32797.html
