Double Rec: The Last Thing + Winning Is Everything (Cato/Clove)

Wow! It seems like everyone is really interested in Cato/Clove fics lately. I recommended a bunch a while back for Nightlock Podcast, and Lavender Flame recently reviewed two. Recently, we received an email from the lovely Melody Joy, known in the fanfiction world as storiesofanothernight, asking us to recommend two Cato/Clove fanfics - one of which is her own. The Last Thing by storiesofanothernight
Summary: Cato's encounter with the Mutts, his last minutes, and his last thoughts regarding his district partner.
Verdict: This o/s is short and sweet, playing out a single scene in the 74th Hunger Games. My favourite part was when Cato realises the Mutt that is attacking him is Clove - it's heart-wrenching! Such a great moment to play out from his point of view.


Winning Is Everything by What The Quell
Summary: Who hasn't wondered what it would be like to have looked forward to competing in the Hunger Games since birth? Career tributes have a purpose, and that purpose is to win. This is the Hunger Games from Clove's POV. First installment of Vicious. *COMPLETE*
Verdict: I've only read the start, but I can tell you I'll keep reading. This fic is a great read for those who love reading about the 74th Games from another's point of view. This fic is growing in popularity, which is lovely to see. What The Quell does a fabulous job of portraying Clove's determined characterisation, and conveying such a different view of the Games and the Capitol. Plus, it's complete, so there's no evil cliffhangers to wait around on!
