Little Miss Mionie's Recs: 'Catching Fire' Fics

Happy Hunger Games, fellow tributes! Today, I'm bringing you a few THG fanfics that centre around Catching Fire. (Ergo, spoilers ahead.) I thought it would be fitting seeing as I'm just about to read CF for the second time (....I enjoyed THG and MJ more, what can I say?!)

I pull the paper out, unfold it and smooth it in my hands. Her name is printed in her neat handwriting, and I have to clear my throat before I speak, tears threatening to choke me. Canon, set during Catching Fire. Complete.
Excerpt: I watched through the glass as she slept, as the doctors healed her wounds and erased her scars. I liked her. Had liked her from the beginning, from the moment her voice cut through the sodden crowd, volunteering in her sister's stead. And now the future opened in front of me. I would get to work with her, for years even. I would introduce her to the Capitol, take her to parties, show her all my favorite little boutiques. Together we would devise strategies, court sponsors, and bring more wins to Twelve. She would be someone to trust, someone to bond with over many years of Games. Someone to temper Haymitch. Someone… who could be like a sister to me.

Pure: Or, the five times Peeta wasn't. What - or whom - has Peeta done that made him smile so sadly when he told Katniss she was 'pure' in Catching Fire?
Excerpt: “I know I’m not – ” Madge mumbled, white and pink against his dark bedclothes.
“No,” Peeta said softly. He bent his head to kiss her. “I like it.” It. You. Not her. This. Real. One hand between her legs, and Madge arched up towards him, pressing the length of her soft body against his hard Victor’s body, all of its scars Polished away except the rosy-gold seam where his new leg met his hip, numb numb numb pain hot hot hot from his toes up to his head.

3. Holding Flames by Sparksflying
Peeta's POV for Catching Fire. From the author of Flying Sparks. Rated T for violence, mild language and adult content.
Excerpt: Without another look in her direction, I go to my room on the train, locking the door just to be safe. I don't want Katniss coming in here demanding to sleep with me because she feels lonely or her nightmares are bothering her. It's no use pretending I don't still care about her. Nothing can change how much I love Katniss Everdeen, not even how much she has lied to me. But I do admit I'm really angry at her. She can't expect me to just move on with my life knowing that how she treated me in the arena was an act. An act that I fell for.

Be sure to leave these fab authors a review, and let us know how you enjoyed these fics!
